Photo Tranfers On Wood ~ A labor of Love
Transferring an original photograph onto wood is an artful process that requires patience and an eye for detail. It take about 3 days for a finished product if there are no mishaps along the way.
Here's how it's done:
- Prep the wood: Choose a smooth, clean wooden surface.
- Select the image: Opt for a laser-printed photograph.
- Apply gel medium: Coat the wood with gel medium.
- Transfer the photo: Place the photo face down onto the gel medium.
- Let it dry: Allow the gel medium to dry completely. I wait 24 hours.
- Remove paper: Dampen and gently rub off the paper fibers. This process is done slowly and very carefully to retain as much of the image as possible.
- Seal with epoxy resin: Apply epoxy resin for protection and a glossy finish.
- Let it cure: Allow the resin to dry according to instructions. This curing process takes 24 hours.
- Display: The art piece is ready to hang or set on a surface.
Each piece is handmade and crafted with care, resulting in a one-of-a-kind creation that adds character to any space.
